Relentless Reds remain undefeated after win over Easts

The Dirty Reds first-grade men’s team kept their undefeated status intact with a 52-7 win against Easts.

The Easts club arrived with considerably less than two full teams for their two matches against Goulburn, but had enough fresh players start in first grade to look a completely different side to their lower grade that had had nine tries scored against them in the preceding match.

It took 13 minutes for either side to get on the board, but Goulburn eventually gained their feet, running in four first-half tries for a comfortable 24-7 lead at the break. 

The Reds found another gear and denied Easts any points in the second half and added four more to their tally.

Goulburn’s win sees them retain the lead of the first-grade competition but they share that lead with the equally undefeated Royals side who they have yet to face. 

Adam Lachlan took the lead in this year’s try-scoring stakes with a double and Ben Todkill also scored a brace.

Best and fairest points went to Henry Cooper (3), Harry Newby (2), Adam Lachlan (1) and Tim Moule (1). Henry Cooper was also voted winner of the Garpole award. Still awaiting details of who was named first-grade players player.

First grade has yet another bye next weekend, and will join second grade in having the weekend off.
