The Goulburn Women’s team made its debut on August 20, 2011 in a game of touch football against an invitational side as part of a fund-raising day for “Say NO to Domestic Violence.”
Other similar games followed in the following years.
They’ve been called the Flirty Reds, the Dirty Birds and plain old Dirty Reds.
Over the last four years, the women’s side has played in pre-season sevens rugby tournaments.
In 2019 they fielded a team in the ACT Women’s 10s competition, went through the season undefeated, and took out the premiership and in 2020, in their first season of 15 a side rugby, the team made the semi-finals.
THIS YEAR
The Goulburn Women’s Rugby Union 2022 season is about to kick-off! The team will be part of the ACT Women’s 10s competition also featuring ADFA, Batemans Bay, Bungendore, Hall, Jindabyne, Royals, Uni-Norths and Yass.
We would love for you to be a part of the journey this year and it’s never too late to start. We are looking for women all ages, sizes, heights and abilities! Mothers, sisters, aunties and friends! Everyone is welcome to join in.
We are friendly, fun and enjoy having a run with lots of fitness, contact and enjoying social outings. We train hard and participate in community activities from time to time! We support each other in all we do and if you need someone to look after your kids so you can train then we will find a sitter for you! Most of all we LOVE playing rugby!!
Training session are on Tuesdays and Thursday’s at 6pm at either Rugby Park or Carr Confoy Park with monthly team dinners at the club’s Major Sponsor, the Hibernian Hotel.
