Women’s social sevens a great hit out

With the AFP women’s team withdrawing from the scheduled trial on Saturday, the Goulburn’s Women team made good use of the opportunity and organised a round robin of sevens.

Split into two teams – Team Pnk (using Dirty Reds women’s jumpers) and Team Yellow (using Goulburn High School jumpers) the teams played against each other in five matches (one a mixed teams match including three men on each team) and one match against a men’s team (that match ended with a 10-all draw).

The ground was in great nick thanks to Chris and Geoff Shepherd and the cool weather and slightly moist ground provided great playing conditions.

Huge thanks to all of the women’s players who showed up (including Paige Penning who sat in before leaving for her Brumbies match in Bowral).  Thanks also to the Goulburn High and Trinity players who showed great skill and enthusiasm… let’s hope we can recruit a few of them.

Thanks also to the men’s players who supported the teams throughout in addition to playing in two of the games.

The hit out was a perfect warm up for the Kiama sevens on February 23.
