Under 16s power home against Vikings

Following on from a win last week the U16’s were ready to back up and consolidate their training sessions against a tough opposition – Tuggeranong Vikings. And that we did!

The home crowd had the boys fired up and from the sheds the team was hungry for a home ground win.

We came out flying and within the first few minutes crossed the line with a try and conversion. A disciplined offensive line and well executed clean-outs and lockdowns, allowed the 16’s to dictate the game and not long afterwards Goulburn crossed the line for two more tries to close out the first half 17 – 0.

The second half started with Goulburn coming out strong both in attack and defence. Our first up tackles were good and our defence spacing was strong throughout the whole game giving the Vikings little chance to score. 

Our forwards were on point in the scrums and good in lineouts, allowing us to continue to apply pressure on the Vikings. Our backs also played really well and had nice spacing and spread the ball out to the wing.

Although a couple of lapses in play allowed the Vikings to run the ball over the line, Goulburn regained possession and allowed themselves to again dictate the play which enabled them to rebuild their intensity and lead to three more tries by full-time.

Next week’s game will be a replay against the Vikings in Canberra.
