Goulburn 16s relish the running against Royals

Following the cancellation of last weeks game due to the inclement weather, the 16s were keen to battle out today against Canberra Royals.

The game started off well with Goulburn running the ball hard from the kickoff, which saw the Royals scrambling in defence.

With only a few minutes into the game, Goulburn had already crossed the line with two tries, both with successful conversions.

After a few sideline shoutouts from our coaching entourage, the boys regathered themselves and ran in three more tries before the half time whistle with all but one conversion unsuccessful.

Although the first half score looked as though the game was in the bag, there were a number of scrappy plays and one up runs which had the coach baffled.

A stern reminder about improving discipline, support runners, maintaining possession of the ball and going back to the basics of rugby, the boys were now ready for the second half with fresh legs.

Early on the Royals showed that if Goulburn wanted to take off with the win they would need to work hard for it.

With a steady hand from the back of the ruck, it took us a while, but we slammed over the line scoring three more tries, with all goals converted. Well done boys!
