One small step for woman…

We like to keep track of important stats and historical bits and pieces in the Goulburn Rugby Club, and this bit of information is very much worth recognising and acknowledging.

As you most probably know, the women’s team (who have previously been called the Dirty Birds and the Flirty Reds and are going by the name of Dirty Reds women at this stage) are hoping to play in the full 15 a side competition next year… a truly historic occasion.

This spring/summer they are playing in a series of sevens tournaments. And while some have played for the club, none have officially registered as players for Goulburn Rugby before.

Until now.

The added step of registering may seem like one small step for the women, but it’s a giant leap for the club. The team listed below will make history as our first ever officially registered Dirty Reds women’s team.

And just as with the moon landing, one of them landed/registered first… and that was Georgia Anable, beating her sister by five minutes. Very fitting that such a respected Goulburn Rugby family name will forever be recorded as the first ever official women’s player in the club.

Well done! Reach for the stars, girls.
