Owls outlast undermanned Dirty Reds

The combination of playing one man down and having the bulk of the team backing up from a previous game proved too much for the Goulburn Dirty Reds , losing to Uni Norths by 44-13.

Up until seven minutes from half time, scoring was neck and neck with Goulburn trailing 8-6, but as weariness set in the assignment got tougher.

Making the task that much tougher was being reduced to 14 players, similarly to the second grade side, when forward injuries required Goulburn to request uncontested scrums.

Nonetheless, the Reds never threw in the towel and a highlight of the second half was a first club try for Vereniki Naureure.

Hopefully the club will have better numbers next weekend when the Men’s sides take on Wests in their first home games this year, while the Women’s team, which had the bye on Saturday, will play Hall.
