The Goulburn Women’s 7s team claimed the Fiji 7s competition (and a handy $1000 prize) in Queanbeyan on Saturday October 12.

Following on from their undefeated home and away season and premiership in the 10s competition, the Goulburn Women remained undefeated in this tournament, beating four teams from ACT first division by a minimum of a two try margin in every match.

In a dominant display, Goulburn scored no less than four tries in any match and two of their opponents were left scoreless.

Pearl Rakete, who was forced to sit out the season but worked tirelessly for the team from the sideline, was voted Players’ Player by the team in her return to the field after two seasons out.

Ashley Mewburn, who scored two from tries in the competition, was awarded the refs best and fairest mantle for both of the first two games, and Maddy Tooth received the ref’s points in the semi final and final.
